Roy Face mowed down 10 Kansas City batters as the Washington Nationals
defeated the Kansas City Athletics by a score of 7 to 6 at Municipal
Stadium.
Face(3-8) earned his pay with a solid performance for Washington. He went 7
and 2/3 innings surrendering 10 hits and no walks and gave up 2 homeruns.
Kansas City had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short.
Fritz Dorish earned the save, his 11th. Frank Lary(15-11) took the loss. He
got hit pretty hard, allowing 10 hits and 6 walks in 6 innings.
'Everything felt great' Face said. 'I had a good fastball, I felt I could
throw it by everybody tonight.'
