Larry McKeon completed the game without help from the bullpen at Jefferson St
Grounds where the Cincinnati Red Stockings beat the Philadelphia Athletics by
the score of 5 to 3.

Cincinnati scored 2 runs in the decisive top of the 5th inning.  After two
were out John Reilly began the Cincinnati spurt when he doubled, and an error
was also committed.  Frank Fennelly next to the plate and he cracked a
two-run shot.  Cincinnati totaled 8 hits on the afternoon.  

McKeon(18-7) got the victory, allowing 3 runs for the game. Bobby
Mathews(25-16) suffered the loss.  He pitched 9 innings and surrendered 8
hits and no walks.
