Irv Higginbotham went the distance as the incredible Chicago Cubs defeated the
St. Louis Cardinals by the score of 6 to 4 at West Side
Park.
Higginbotham(5-4) gave Chicago a solid outing. He went 9 innings and
surrended up 9 hits and 1 walk. Chicago rapped out 12 hits for the
afternoon.
The loss was charged to Les Backman(5-8). He got hit pretty hard, allowing 11
hits and 2 walks in 7 and 2/3 innings. Chicago continued their winnings ways
improving their record to a league leading 87-43. They are 8-2 in their last
ten games. Roger Bresnahan was unhappy with his club's recent performance.
'We can't keep losing games' he said. 'It gets to be embarrassing after a
while.'
