Mordecai Brown racked up an impressive total of 11 strikeouts and Claude
Cooper had 2 base hits and scored 3 times at Washington Park as the Brooklyn
team beat the pitiful St. Louis Terriers 4 to 3.

Brown(8-15) contributed a very nicely pitched game. He didn't allow much,
just 8 hits and 5 walks in 9 innings. St. Louis went down quietly in the
9th.

Dave Davenport(9-9) was hit with the loss. Bill Bradley was asked about the
performance of Brown, 'He had his good stuff out there this afternoon. The
fans really get into it when the strikeouts start mounting up - and that
seems to give him even more adrenalin.'
