Yogi Berra had 5 hits and 5 RBI and Billy Pierce allowed Andy Spector to rest
his bullpen, tossing a complete game at Forbes Field where the Pittsburgh
Pirates beat the Chicago-NL Cubs 6 to 3.

Berra enjoyed a big day at the plate.  He cleared the fences for a two-run
home run in the 1st inning, banged out a single in the 3rd inning, stroked a
base-hit in the 5th inning, ripped a one-base hit scoring two baserunners in
the 6th inning and doubled scoring a run in the 8th inning.  Pittsburgh
banged out 13 hits on the afternoon.  

Pierce(14-9) lasted until the end allowing 3 runs for the win. Vic
Raschi(9-17) was given the loss.  He was touched for 13 hits and 3 walks in 8
innings.  

'I had good swings today,' Berra said, 'Everything felt right'.
