In a thriling finish the Chicago-NL Cubs pulled off the win over the Boston-AL
Red Sox by a score of 4 to 3 at Wrigley Field.

The deciding run was scored by Chicago-NL in the 9th.  Toby Atwell hit a
single.  Johnny Wyrostek stepped up next and he was hit by a pitch.  Carl
Furillo then laid down a sacrifice bunt.  Davey Williams was next to bat, but
he was a strikeout victim.  Pee Wee Reese came to the plate and drew a walk
to load the bases.  Mickey McDermott then unleashed a wild pitch giving
Chicago-NL the win as 32,290 happy fans joyfully celebrated.  Boston-AL was
out-hit by Chicago-NL, 9 hits to 5.  

Eddie Yuhas(9-5) went 2 innings allowing no runs for the win. Walt
Masterson(1-4) absorbed the loss in relief.  He allowed 1 run and 1 hit in 2
and 2/3 innings.
