Larry Doby had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the Cincinnati Reds beat the
Washington Nationals by a score of 3 to 2.

Russ Meyer(12-14) pitched a fine game.  He surrendered 6 hits and no walks in
7 innings.  Washington threatened in the 9th but Cincinnati was able to put
down the rally.  

Stu Miller earned the save, his 33rd.  Duane Pillette(3-5) was the losing
pitcher.  When questioned about the loss, Gordy Renaud said, 'The fans got to
see an exciting game out there this afternoon.  Unfortunately, we couldn't
get it done this time.  Next time, though, we'll be the clubhouse with all
the smiles.'
