In a dramatic ending the Chicago-NL Cubs staged a comeback and held on to win over the Detroit Tigers by the count of 3 to 2. Chicago-NL won the game with a rally in the 9th inning plating 2 runs. Lave Cross led off and keyed the rally when he reached on an error. Babe Towne was next and he drew a walk. Rube Oldring then laid down a sacrifice bunt. Mike Grady followed next and he laced a one-base hit scoring two teammates. Chicago-NL had just 6 hits for the afternoon. Jack Taylor(20-12) was the winner allowing 2 runs in 8 innings. Eddie Plank earned the save, his 10th. Jack Pfiester(17-14) suffered the loss in relief. Jim Murphy was understandably not very talkative after his team's tough loss. He quickly showered and changed and when asked about the game had a terse, yet polite response, 'Hey fellows, that game was a heart-breaker to lose. Our guys gave it their all and played well - fate just wasn't smilin' on us this afternoon' SCORESHEET: 1906 Chicago-NL Cubs at 1906 Detroit Tigers D.Hoffma-A1 A1:F/7 B1:G/31 C1:F/7 D1:SB>12 E1:F/7 T.O'Hara-E1 Si>2o E.Plank-E3 J.Donahu-A1 A2:K *3*:K C2:K *8*:K E2:G/43 L.Quilli-D2 D.McGann-D6 T.Turner-A1 A3:G/63 B3:G/43 *6*:E/3 D3:Si J.Willia-A1 *2*:G/53 B4:F/8 C4:Sac/54 D4:F/7 >12 S.Barry-A1 A5:Tr *4*:G/53 C5:G/63>2 D5:G/43 3 L.Cross-A1 A6:W>b1 B6:L/5 C6:K *9*:E/4 H.Smoot-A1 A7:Si>3# B7:K *7*:G/63 D7:W>12 b B.Towne-D7 12 1 B.Ganley-E3 J.Warner-A1 A8:Si>23 *5*:G/43 C8:K D8:Sac/54 R.Oldrin-D8 12 >23 12 B.Hallma-E3 J.Taylor-A1 A9:K B9:W>b1 C9:W>b1 D9:Si>3# M.Grady-D9 2# F.Chance-A1 A1:K *3*:Si *5*:L/3 *7*:G/63 *9*:F/7 T.Leach-A1 A2:Si B2:Sac/54 C2:G/53 D2:K E2:G/43 F.Jones-E1 >12 T.Raub-E2 G.Stone-A1 A3:Si>12 B3:G/43>2 C3:G/43 D3:F/7 E3:K 3 B.Congal-A1 A4:P/4 B4:P/3 *6*:P/3 *8*:E/9 B.Gilber-D5 F.Odwell-E1 G.Davis-A1 A5:L/4 *4*:L/4 C5:HBP D5:Si>12 B.Rickey-A1 *2*:Si B6:Do C6:P/5 D6:Sac/54 J.Nealon-D6 >23 12 R.Dooin-E1 H.Arndt-A1 A7:WP>12 B7:G/63 C7:PB>12 D7:PB>3# G/63 Si>2# 23 P/4 J.Evers-A1 A8:G/53 B8:IW>b1 C8:Si>12 D8:IW>b1 R.Ames-A1 A9:G/3 B9:P/6 C9:P/6 D9:SB>12 J.Yeager-C9 F/7 O.Hess-D1+
