In a dramatic ending the Chicago-NL Cubs staged a comeback and held on to win
over the Detroit Tigers by the count of 3 to 2.

Chicago-NL won the game with a rally in the 9th inning plating 2 runs. Lave
Cross led off and keyed the rally when he reached on an error. Babe Towne
was next and he drew a walk. Rube Oldring then laid down a sacrifice bunt.
Mike Grady followed next and he laced a one-base hit scoring two teammates.
Chicago-NL had just 6 hits for the afternoon.

Jack Taylor(20-12) was the winner allowing 2 runs in 8 innings. Eddie Plank
earned the save, his 10th. Jack Pfiester(17-14) suffered the loss in relief.

Jim Murphy was understandably not very talkative after his team's tough loss.
He quickly showered and changed and when asked about the game had a terse,
yet polite response, 'Hey fellows, that game was a heart-breaker to lose.
Our guys gave it their all and played well - fate just wasn't smilin' on us
this afternoon'
