WEB GEMS- Top 4th: Billy Purtell robbed Ted Easterly of a base hit.

Frank Smith allowed Billy Sullivan to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete
game at South Side Park where the Chicago White Sox beat the Cleveland Naps
by the score of 6 to 2.

Chicago took the lead for keeps in the bottom of the 2nd inning plating 3 runs
utilizing 2 base hits. Patsy Dougherty led off and keyed the rally when he
lined a base-hit. Dougherty then stole second base. Dave Altizer then drew
a walk. After an out was recorded, Billy Purtell came to the plate and
reached on an error resulting in a run. Chicago continued their aggressive
style with another stolen base. Sullivan added to the uprising and drew a
walk to load the bases. Smith followed and he laced a one-base hit which
accounted for two additional runs. That scoring would be all that was
needed. Chicago had a total of 9 hits for the game.

Smith(21-13), allowing 2 runs for the game, picked up the victory. Harry
Otis(0-2) was charged with the loss. He surrendered 9 hits and 8 walks in 8
innings.
