Burt Shotton smacked 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the St. Louis Browns defeated
the hopeless New York Yankees by a score of 11 to 8 at Polo Grounds.

Shotton was in a groove all day. The New York fans hated to see him
approaching the batter's box. He ripped a solo home run in the 1st inning,
belted a three-run homer in the 8th inning and ripped a base-hit in the 9th
inning. A wild affair, this game saw the lead change 5 times.

George Baumgardner(10-11) picked up the victory, allowing 7 runs in 7 innings.
Earl Hamilton recorded his 4th save. The losing pitcher was Ray
Caldwell(5-7). He was knocked around, surrendering 8 runs in 7 and 2/3
innings.

'I just got in the box, looked for a pitch and swung,' Shotton said. 'That's
it'
