Bob Elliott had 3 base hits as the Cincinnati Reds defeated the Washington
Nationals by the score of 4 to 0 at Griffith Stadium.

Cincinnati jumped on top to stay in the 5th inning plating an isolated run
utilizing 2 base hits.  For the game Cincinnati out-hit Washington 12 to 6.

Jim Hearn(10-7) allowed no runs in 7 innings, and picked up the victory. Hearn
got help from Stu Miller who was credited with his 34th save.  Warren
Spahn(12-18) ended up with the loss.  He was the victim of a defensive lapse
and did not allow an earned run in the game.  

With this win, Cincinnati has a 77-62 record.  They have been 6-4 lately.
Still in a bad slump, with this loss, Washington is 1-9 lately and 50-92 on
the year.
