Joe Adcock smacked 2 homeruns at Municipal Stadium as the Washington Nationals
won in dramatic fashion coming back to beat the Kansas City Athletics by the
count of 7 to 6.
Washington had the winning rally in the top of the 9th inning plating 2 runs
on 2 hits. Hal Naragon led off and started the rally when he drew a walk.
Roy Sievers struck out, unable to help the rally. After another out, Fred
Hatfield then tripled bringing in a run. Rip Repulski stepped in and he
doubled scoring the final run of the inning. Both teams finished the game
with 11 hits.
Fritz Dorish(3-1) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1 inning. Pedro
Ramos preserved the game for Dorish, recording his his 2nd save. Johnny
Antonelli(8-16) was the losing pitcher in relief.
