Jim Whitney was able to finish what he started and was credited with a
complete game and second baseman Jack Burdock had 4 hits and 2 RBI at Kennard
Street Park where the Boston Red Stockings beat the Cleveland Blues in 10
innings 7 to 6.

The score was tied at 6 after nine.  Boston came out the victor in the 10th
inning.  Pat Deasley laced a single.  Burdock came next and he tripled
scoring the run.  Boston managed 13 hits in their victory.  

Whitney(24-20) allowed 6 runs on the game. George Bradley(8-10) was the loser.
He was unable to control the Boston offense and allowed 13 hits and 2 walks
in 10 innings.  

'I just wanted to give my team a chance to win.' said Whitney, 'I got burned
on a couple of pitches. But we won the game, and that's all that matters.'
