Johnny Kling smacked 2 triples and had 3 RBI and Bert Cunningham was able to
finish what he started and was credited with a complete game as the Chicago
Orphans won in dramatic fashion over the New York Giants by a score of 8 to 6
at Polo Grounds.

Kling was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine day at
their team's expense. He laced a one-base hit resulting in a run in the 2nd
inning, tripled in the 8th inning and tripled which was good for two runs in
the 9th inning. Chicago won despite being out-hit by New York 14 hits to 11.

Cunningham(1-3) finished the game allowing 6 runs in the victory. The losing
pitcher was Christy Mathewson(1-2). He gave up 8 runs and 10 hits in 8
innings.

'I struggled a bit out there today,' Cunningham said, 'but I toughed it out
and we got the win.'
