Sam Leever completed the game without help from the bullpen as the potent
Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the floundering St. Louis Cardinals 9 to 4 at
Robison Field.

Honus Wagner was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine
day at their team's expense. He tripled bringing in a run in the 1st inning,
stroked a base-hit which brought home a run in the 5th inning and slapped a
one-base hit scoring two baserunners in the 9th inning. Pittsburgh had 16
hits for the afternoon.

Leever(2-4), allowing 4 runs for the game, picked up the victory. The losing
pitcher was John Raleigh(2-3). Pittsburgh knocked him around a bit, as he
gave up 9 runs in 8 innings.

The Pittsburgh ballclub's record now stands at 87-44. St. Louis can't seem to
snap out of their recent 'funk'. Now they have a miserable 1-9 record over
the last couple weeks.
