The final score,, was 10 to 9. Philadelphia-NL came up with the deciding runs in the top of the 9th inning when they came up with 4 runs on 2 hits. The biggest moment was provided by Hank Bauer who helped quiet the crowd when he launched a rocket-shot out of the park for a Grand Slam homerun. Philadelphia-AL scored in 5 different innings, but their shaky pitching kept them from victory. The victory went to Bob Rush(15-10) who went 3 innings, allowing 2 runs. Ken Heintzelman preserved the game for Rush, recording his his 8th save. Fritz Dorish(5-6) was given the loss in relief. He was knocked around pretty good, giving up 3 runs in 2 and 2/3 innings. Jim Murphy was understandably not very talkative after his team's tough loss. He quickly showered and changed and when asked about the game had a terse, yet polite response, 'Hey fellows, that game was a heart-breaker to lose. Our guys gave it their all and played well - fate just wasn't smilin' on us tonight' SCORESHEET: 1952 Philadelphia-NL Phillies at 1952 Philadelphia-AL Athletics P.Rizzut-A1 A1:G/63 B1:G/63 C1:HBP D1:Si E1:Si N.Fox-A1 A2:G/63 *3*:P/4 C2:K D2:L/5 E2:Bk>12 K S.Musial-A1 A3:Si B3:Do C3:W>23 1 *7*:G/63 E3:W>b1 2 b1 A.Rosen-A1 A4:W>12 b B4:HR>2# C4:G/63 D4:G/63 E4:W>23 1 1 b# 2 b1 G.Shuba-A1 A5:HR>2# B5:G/43 *5*:G/3 D5:G/31 E5:HR>3# H.Bauer-E5 1# b# 2# 1# b# D.Dimagg-A1 A6:G/43 B6:L/5 C6:P/6 *8*:Si E6:P/6 J.Jensen-A1 *2*:Si *4*:HR>b# C7:P/6 D7:G-DP/5 43>1o S.Lopata-A1 A8:L/5 B8:Si *6*:Si D8:G/63 R.Branca-C1 S.Lollar-C5 M.Kenned-A1 A9:Sac/54 B9:Sac/54 C9:G-DP/3 *9*:G/3 E.Torges-C9 >12 >12 63>1o B.Rush-D3+ J.Piersa-A1 A1:F/7 *3*:P/2 C1:Si D1:G/53 E1:K F1:Si>2o G.Woodli-D1 13 F.Dorish-D2+ B.Avila-A1 A2:Do B2:Tr C2:Do>13 *7*:Si E2:Si>12 E.Stanky-E4 G.Hodges-A1 A3:F/7 B3:Si>3# C3:L/6 D3:W>12 b E3:F/7 1 H.Sauer-A1 A4:HR>2# B4:L/5 C4:IW>b1 D4:Si>23 *9*:W>b1 b# 12 W.Jones-A1 A5:L/3 B5:F/7 C5:Do>3# D5:K E5:Tr>1# 2# 1# J.Dyck-A1 *2*:Do *4*:G/43 C6:K D6:SF/8>3 E6:G/43>3 R.Sulliv-D6 # # S.Mele-D8 S.White-A1 A7:G/43>2 B7:G/63 *6*:F/8 D7:F/8 E7:Do D.Rhodes-C7 3 J.Hegan-D2 J.Logan-A1 A8:L/5 B8:K C8:K *8*:G/53 E8:K B.Lemon-A1 A9:F/9 *5*:K C9:Do D9:W>b1 E9:IW>b1 K.Thomas-C9 H.Simpso-D1+
