Nellie Fox had 4 hits at Crosley Field as the blistering-hot Cincinnati Reds
won a thriller over the Chicago-NL Cubs in, 3 to 2.

The game was won by Cincinnati with a run in the 9th inning.  Hank Bauer
ripped a base-hit.  Enos Slaughter next to the plate and he tripled giving
Cincinnati the win as 17,994 happy fans joyfully celebrated.  Cincinnati had
10 hits for the night.  

Ernie Johnson(4-5) went 1 and 1/3 innings allowing no runs for the victory.
Robin Roberts(16-12) was given the loss.  He pitched 8 innings allowing 10
hits and 1 walk.

With the win, Cincinnati continued their winning ways; their streak now stands
at 9 games and counting.
