Willard Nixon blanked Brooklyn allowing just 1 hit as the New York-AL Yankees
outscored the woeful Brooklyn Dodgers 4 to 0.

Nixon(10-8) was on top of his game.  He didn't allow much, just 1 hit and 2
walks in 9 innings reducing his ERA from 3.68 to 3.46.  New York-AL had 9
hits for the night.  

Gene Conley(8-11) was tagged with the loss.  He gave up 5 hits and 3 walks in
8 innings.  'I thought it was my best performance in a long time,' said
Nixon. 'I had good command early in the game. I had my control and composure
and everything went well.'
