Ed Knouff was able to finish what he started and was credited with a complete
game at Jefferson St Grounds where the Philadelphia Athletics beat the
Cincinnati Red Stockings by the score of 5 to 3.

Philadelphia brought 3 runs across the plate in the 5th inning when they had 3
base hits.  They would prove to be the difference in the contest.
Philadelphia managed only 6 hits on the afternoon.  

Knouff(9-3) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 3 runs. Larry
McKeon(18-8) was the losing pitcher.  He pitched 8 innings and surrendered 6
hits and 1 walk.
