Nap Lajoie had 4 hits and 2 RBI as the powerful Philadelphia-NL Phillies
topped the New York-NL Giants by a score of 8 to 6 at Polo
Grounds.

Philadelphia-NL won the game with a run in the top of the 8th inning.  After
an out was recorded, Jack Gilbert drew a walk.  Fred Odwell stepped into the
batter's box and he lined a base-hit.  One out later, Lajoie then lashed a
single scoring the run.  Lajoie took second on the throw.  Philadelphia-NL
dominated offensively as they scored in 6 different innings.  

George Winter(6-6) got the win allowing no runs in 2 innings. Win Kellum
earned his 9th save.  Vic Willis(8-24) was given the loss.  He was unable to
control the Philadelphia-NL offense and allowed 15 hits and 3 walks in 7 and
2/3 innings.
