One run was the difference at South Side Park as the Detroit Tigers defeated
the Chicago White Sox 7 to 6.

Chicago never recovered after Detroit took the lead in the top of the 3rd
inning scoring 2 runs on 2 base hits. George Mullin led off and he drew a
walk. Dick Harley stepped into the batter's box and he drew a walk. Doc
Casey then banged out a single scoring a run. Kid Elberfeld followed and he
grounded into a double play scoring the final run of the inning. Chicago had
a chance in the 9th but they came up short.

The victory was credited to Mullin(12-13) who went 7 and 1/3 innings, allowing
6 runs. Samuel McMackin recorded his 1st save. James Durham(0-1) was given
the loss.

'I always am most impressed when a pitcher finds a way to win even without his
best stuff,' Frank Dwyer said after the game. 'Mullin did not have command
of his pitches most of the afternoon, but he proved he really knew how to
pitch!'
