Third baseman Jim Doyle had 2 base hits at Forbes Field where the Chicago Cubs
beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 5 to 3.

Chicago jumped out to the early lead in the first inning when they scored 2
runs on 3 hits.  Although they lost, Pittsburgh did out-hit Chicago 10 to 7.

The victory went to King Cole(12-9) who went 7 innings, allowing 3 runs.
Mordecai Brown recorded the save, his 1st.  Harry Gardner(1-1) was hit with
the loss.
