Jack Warhop completed the game without help from the bullpen as the Detroit
Tigers defeated the Philadelphia-AL Athletics by the score of 6 to 5 at
Bennett Park.
Detroit came up with 3 runs in the 6th inning when they had 3 base hits. The
critical plate appearance was by Zack Wheat who made the crowd happy when he
doubled bringing in two baserunners. Philadelphia-AL had a chance in the 9th
but they came up short.
Warhop(9-14) was the winner allowing 5 runs for the game. Lefty
Leifield(20-11) was the losing pitcher. The Detroit ballclub's record now
stands at 39-97. Philadelphia-AL, which had been on a roll, saw their record
drop to 84-49.
