Al Spalding had a complete game and Paul Hines had 4 hits and 3 RBI at South
End Grounds as the impressive Chicago White Stockings beat the Boston Red
Stockings 11 to 4.

In the top of the 3rd inning Chicago scored 4 runs.  The crucial at-bat was
provided by Hines who deflated the mood of the partisan fans when he doubled
plating two runs.  Chicago rapped out 14 hits for the afternoon.  

The winning pitcher was Spalding(49-9) who allowed 4 runs for the game.
Foghorn Bradley(5-9) took the loss.  He got hammered, allowing 14 hits and 2
walks in 9 innings.
