Hardie Henderson went 9 solid innings as the Brooklyn Grays defeated the
Cincinnati Red Stockings by the score of 3 to 2 at Washington Park.

Brooklyn had 2 runs cross the plate in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Jim
McTamany kicked off the action when he doubled. Ernie Burch followed next
and he doubled driving in a run. Tony Mullane then tossed a pitch that the
catcher mis-handled. Mullane then threw a wild pitch scoring the final run
of the inning. Cincinnati tried unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.

Henderson(11-19) lasted until the end allowing 2 runs for the win.
Mullane(26-23) was the loser. He surrendered only 3 runs and 5 hits in 8
innings.

'Henderson took our guys to school' O.P. Caylor said. 'Too bad he doesn't
pitch for us - it would make my job a whole lot easier!'
