George Haddock had an impressive outing and Hugh Duffy had 2 base hits at
Recreation Park where the mighty Boston Reds beat the Columbus Solons 4 to
2.
Haddock(34-7) escaped virtually unscathed against the Columbus hitters. He was
stingy on the mound, allowing just 5 hits and no walks in 9 innings.
Columbus had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short.
Hank Gastright(20-12) ended up with the loss. 'Some losses are harder to take
than others' Gus Schmelz lamented after the game. 'This was one of them.'
