Varney Anderson pitched a complete game as the Washington Senators came back
to win one over Brooklyn Grooms, 4 to 3.

Washington won the game with a rally in the 9th inning scoring 2 runs on 2
hits. Kip Selbach led off and keyed the rally when he drew a walk. Selbach
was safe at second on a stolen base. Ed Cartwright then smacked a single.
Washington continued their aggressive style with another stolen base. Jack
Crooks stepped into the box and slapped a single resulting in an exciting win
for Washington and a wild post-game celebration by the home town fans.
Washington won despite being out-hit by Brooklyn 11 hits to 5.

Anderson(6-17) allowed 3 runs on the game. Dan Daub(11-9) was hit with the
loss in relief. 'I just wanted to give my team a chance to win.' said
Anderson, 'I got burned on a couple of pitches. But we won the game, and
that's all that matters.'
