WEB GEMS- Top 1st: Home Run Baker robbed Joe Jackson of a base hit.

Third baseman Terry Turner had 2 base hits and 2 RBI and Bill Steen completed
the game without help from the bullpen at Shibe Park as the Cleveland Naps
beat the Philadelphia Athletics by the count of 7 to 3.

Cleveland brought 3 runs across the plate in the top of the 5th inning. After
two were out Nap Lajoie was the sparkplug when he smacked a single. Joe
Birmingham then called for a steal which was successful. Doc Johnston then
drew a walk. Cleveland continued their aggressive style with another stolen
base. Turner stepped into the box and doubled, and an error was also
committed, driving in three runs. Cleveland finished with 11 hits in the
victory.

Steen(7-5) finished the game allowing 3 runs in the victory. Bob Shawkey(6-4)
was charged with the loss. He pitched 8 innings and surrendered 10 hits and
3 walks.
