Max Carey had 5 hits and 5 RBI as the Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the
Philadelphia Phillies 19 to 10 at Baker Bowl.

Carey had a big day at the plate.  He doubled scoring two baserunners in the
2nd inning, doubled in the 4th inning, banged out a single in the 5th inning,
lined a base-hit bringing in a run in the 6th inning and doubled bringing in
two baserunners in the 9th inning.  Pittsburgh bats were very productive in
the 4th inning with 5 runs on 5 hits and the 9th inning which saw them score
5 runs on 7 hits.  The Pittsburgh offense was great, scoring in 7 of the 9
innings.  

Wilbur Cooper(13-14) allowed 10 runs in 7 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Joe Conzelman preserved the game for Cooper, recording his his 4th
save.  Eppa Rixey(4-8) was tagged with the loss.  He got hammered, allowing
15 hits and 4 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings.  

'Some days it just all comes together, and this was one of them' Carey said.
'I've been seeing the ball pretty well lately.'
