Boston came through with the game-winning runs in the bottom of the 9th inning scoring 3 runs on 2 hits. After an out was recorded, Lou Boudreau keyed the rally when he lined a base-hit. Ted Williams came to the plate and drew a walk. Westlake then lofted a three-run bomb giving Boston the win and sending the home town fans into a frenzy. Even though they scored in 5 different innings, Philadelphia was not able to pull off the win. Tommy Byrne(7-5) went 1 inning allowing 1 run for the win. Tiny Bonham(7-3) took the loss in relief. He pitched 1 and 1/3 innings giving up 2 hits and 2 walks. Westlake was in a good mood after the game, 'I'm just seeing and hitting the ball real well now. I made some adjustments last week and they are paying off. That's what this game is about. making adjustments as the season goes along.'
