One run was the difference at Wrigley Field as the Pittsburgh Pirates defeated
the Chicago-NL Cubs in 10 innings 3 to 2.

The score was tied at 2 after nine.  Pittsburgh won the hard fought contest in
the 10th inning.  Bobby Thomson stroked a base-hit.  Thomson stole second
with some aggressive base running.  Bill Serena then doubled scoring the run.
Pittsburgh finished with 10 hits while Chicago-NL ended up with 6.  

The win went to Ellis Kinder(6-7) who allowed 1 run in 2 innings. The loss was
charged to Lou Kretlow(3-2) in relief.  He allowed 1 run and 2 hits in 1
inning.
