Pete Browning smacked 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI and Al Mays pitched a complete
game as the Louisville Colonels defeated the New York Metropolitans by the
score of 12 to 4 at Polo Diamond Grounds.

Browning propelled Louisville to victory. He doubled plating a run in the 1st
inning, blasted a solo shot in the 7th inning and cleared the fences for a
two-run home run in the 9th inning. Louisville simply wore out the New York
pitching staff, scoring in 6 different innings.

The victory went to Mays(4-12) who went the distance allowing 4 runs. Jack
Lynch(15-20) was given the loss. He was knocked around pretty good, giving
up 12 runs in 9 innings.

Browning said, 'It was just all timing. I had pretty good rhythm at the plate
today. You've got to take advantage of mistakes when you can. A couple
pitches were definitely up a little bit - right in my zone.'
