Steve Evans had 2 base hits and 2 RBI and Christy Mathewson went the distance
as the Brooklyn Dodgers defeated the Detroit Tigers by a score of 5 to 3 at
Washington Park.

Brooklyn took the lead for good in the 6th inning plating an isolated run on 2
base hits.  Brooklyn rapped out 11 hits for the afternoon.  

The win was credited to Mathewson(17-12) who went the whole way allowing 3
runs. George Mullin(8-8) was tagged with the loss.  He got hit hard, allowing
9 hits and 2 walks in 6 innings.
