Ralph Branca came through with a solid 6 innings and third baseman Hank
Majeski hit 2 doubles and had 3 RBI at Fenway Park where the Boston Red Sox
beat the Washington Nationals 7 to 0.

Boston jumped out to the early lead in the first inning scoring one runner on
3 base hits.  That was all the offense they were to need.  Boston banged out
13 hits on the afternoon.  

Branca(16-10) got the win allowing no runs in 6 innings. Branca got help from
Harry Gumbert who earned his 1st save.  Joe Coleman(3-9) was the losing
pitcher.  He was unable to control the Boston offense and allowed 13 hits and
3 walks in 8 innings.
