TEAM RISP- Pirates: 5 for 11 Athletics: 2 for 16

Right fielder Monte Irvin had 2 base hits at Shibe Park as the very strong
Pittsburgh Pirates won in dramatic fashion coming back to beat the
Philadelphia-AL Athletics by the count of 7 to 5.

Pittsburgh came up with the deciding runs in the 9th inning scoring 4 runners
on 5 hits. The key at-bat was by Willie Jones who deflated the mood of the
partisan fans when he doubled scoring two baserunners. Pittsburgh had 8 hits
for the afternoon.

Monk Dubiel(2-0) went 1 inning allowing 1 run for the victory. Ellis Kinder
recorded the save, his 33rd. Luis Aloma(9-6) suffered the loss in relief.

Jim Murphy was not very talkative after his team's tough loss. 'I'm not in
the mood for questions, but I'm sure Andy Spector will be glad to talk about
the game as long as you have questions to ask.'
