The Cincinnati Reds and the Brooklyn Dodgers locked up in an exciting one-run
game at Crosley Field.  The final score was the Cincinnati Reds 4, the
Brooklyn Dodgers 3.

Cincinnati scored 2 runs in the 2nd inning.  After an out was recorded, Grady
Hatton keyed the rally when he drew a walk.  Hank Bauer next to the plate and
he cracked a two-run shot.  Brooklyn threatened in the 9th but Cincinnati was
able to put down the rally.  

Bob Porterfield(18-6) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 8 innings.
Ernie Johnson gained credit for his 34th save.  Allie Reynolds(3-8) suffered
the loss.
