WEB GEMS- Bot 2nd: Sam Thompson robbed Jake Beckley of a Homerun!
Bot 4th: Duff Cooley robbed George Davis of an extra base hit.

First baseman Jake Beckley rocketed 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI as the New York
Giants defeated the Philadelphia Phillies by the score of 13 to 8 at Polo
Grounds.

Beckley punished Philadelphia with his bat. He delivered a solo blast in the
4th inning, slapped a base-hit scoring a run in the 5th inning and belted a
three-run homer in the 6th inning. This was a game of many highs and lows
for the home town fans, as the lead kept changing - 5 times in all.

The win went to Ed Doheny(5-7) who allowed 8 runs in 8 and 1/3 innings. Jack
Taylor(15-20) was the losing pitcher. He served up 3 gopher balls in 8
innings.

'Actually, I didn't feel that comfortable at the plate today' Beckley said
after the game. 'Despite that, I'm happy with the results!
