Cy Morgan took a no-hitter into the 9th inning as the Chicago-NL Cubs bested
the struggling Boston-AL Red Sox 3 to 0 at Huntington Ave
Grnds.
Morgan(6-12) pitched one of his finer games as he simply was too much for the
Boston-AL batters. He allowed just 1 hit and 3 walks in 9 innings dropping
his ERA from 4.32 to 4.07. The right-handed Morgan lost his chance for a
no-hitter when Jimmy Sheckard singled with one out in the 9th inning.
Chicago-NL had a total of 12 hits for the game.
The loss was charged to Bill Donovan(7-12). He was knocked around by
Chicago-NL, allowing 11 hits and 3 walks in 8 innings. 'He had his 'A' game
today,' Lee Palmer said of Morgan. 'Very impressive performance.'
