The Boston-AL Red Sox nipped the Philadelphia-AL Athletics 3 to 2 at Columbia
Park in a hard fought contest.
Boston-AL brought 2 runs across the plate in the 6th inning. Philadelphia-AL
had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short.
The victory went to Buster Brown(2-6) who went 8 and 1/3 innings, allowing 2
runs. Chief Bender recorded the save, his 3rd. Joe Lake(13-8) was the loser.
He allowed 6 hits and no walks in 6 innings.
'I just wanted to give my team a chance to win.' said Brown, 'I got burned on
a couple of pitches. But we won the game, and that's all that matters.'
