At Fenway Park, the Boston faithful were treated to an intriguing pitcher's
duel.  Rex Barney(18-7) finally bested his Washington counterpart, Bob
Feller(9-13), by the score of 2 to 1.

Boston brought 2 runs across the plate in the 2nd inning.  That was all Barney
needed.  Nels Potter pitched a perfect ninth and was credited with his 25th
save.  

Feller was hit with the loss.  He pitched 8 innings giving up 7 hits and 3
walks.
