Earl Torgeson had 2 base hits as the incredible Philadelphia-NL Phillies
defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates by a score of 8 to 7 at Shibe Park.

In the 7th inning Philadelphia-NL scored 5 runs with the help of 3 hits.  The
biggest moment was provided by Andy Seminick who brought the crowd to their
feet when he belted a three-run homer.  Pittsburgh tried unsuccessfully to
come back in the 9th.  

The victory went to Frank Hiller(10-6) who went 1 inning, allowing 1 run.
Cloyd Boyer was credited with his 2nd save.  Ewell Blackwell(17-9) was the
loser.  Philadelphia-NL scored big getting 8 runs off him in 7 innings.

'Some losses are harder to take than others' Andy Spector lamented after the
game.  'This was one of them.'
