Ken Raffensberger pitched a complete game and center fielder Larry Doby
slammed a homerun and had 5 RBI as the Cincinnati Reds defeated the New
York-AL Yankees by a score of 7 to 3 at Crosley Field.

It was a good day for Cincinnati thanks to Doby.  He lined a base-hit which
brought home a run in the 4th inning, belted a three-run homer in the 5th
inning and doubled knocking in a run in the 7th inning.  Cincinnati rapped
out 10 hits for the afternoon.  

The win went to Raffensberger(12-9) who allowed 3 runs in the game. Mel
Parnell(10-8) was given the loss.  He surrendered 6 runs and 6 hits in 6
innings.
