One run was the difference at Ebbets Field as the Cleveland Indians defeated
the Brooklyn Dodgers in 11 innings 5 to 4.

Both teams had scored 4 runs after nine full innings.  Cleveland came out on
top in the 11th inning.  Clint Courtney lined a base-hit.  After an out was
recorded, Earl Torgeson came up and he doubled scoring the run.  Cleveland
banged out 9 hits on the afternoon.  

Bob J. Miller(4-2) got the win allowing no runs in 1 and 2/3 innings. Jim
Hughes(7-5) was hit with the loss in relief.  He gave up 2 runs and 3 hits in
5 innings.
