Chicago-NL came up with all the runs they needed in the 4th inning with 3 runs on 4 hits. Frank Thomas led off and started the rally when he laced a base-hit. Jackie Robinson followed and he singled. Eddie Mathews then slapped a single knocking in a run. Two outs later Bill Sarni stepped up to the plate and he was walked intentionally to load the bases. Maglie stepped into the box and ripped a one-base hit with two more runners crossing home. After the 4th inning, neither team was able to score. Maglie(14-5) went 8 innings allowing no runs for the win. Maglie was helped out by Tom Gorman who recorded his 3rd save. Willard Nixon(8-8) ended up with the loss.
