3,568 fans were treated to a fine game at League Park as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end.  The Cincinnati Reds won by the
slimmest of margins, 9 to 8.

The game was deadlocked at 7 after nine full innings.  Cincinnati won the hard
fought contest in the 11th inning.  Tony Mullane delivered a base-hit.  Bid
McPhee stepped into the batter's box and he reached on an error.  Billy
Clingman then banged out a single making Cincinnati victorious to the delight
of the the home town crowd.  Cincinnati finished with 14 hits while
Philadelphia ended up with 11.  

John Dolan(3-2) went 2 innings allowing 1 run for the victory. The losing
pitcher was Tom Vickery(21-17) in relief.  He surrendered 2 hits and no walks
without retiring a batter.
