Philadelphia was unable to recover after Cincinnati went ahead in the bottom of the 7th inning with 3 runs utilizing 3 base hits. Germany Smith led off and he drew a walk. Frank Dwyer next to the plate and he banged out a single. Parrott then ripped a one-base hit to load the bases. After an out was recorded, Hoy came to bat and lined a base-hit, and an error was also committed, knocking home two runners. Bug Holliday came up to bat and would hit into a fielders choice scoring the final run of the inning. This was the kind of game that many fans love as the lead changed hands 5 times. The victory was credited to Parrott(12-21) who went the distance, allowing 9 runs. Gus Weyhing(16-14) suffered the loss. He got hammered, allowing 13 hits and 6 walks in 8 innings. Sam Thompson blasted 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI for Philadelphia but his effort was wasted in the loss.
