Dummy Hoy had 4 hits and Tom Parrott tossed a complete game at League Park as
the Cincinnati Reds beat the Philadelphia Phillies 10 to 9.

Philadelphia was unable to recover after Cincinnati went ahead in the bottom
of the 7th inning with 3 runs utilizing 3 base hits. Germany Smith led off
and he drew a walk. Frank Dwyer next to the plate and he banged out a
single. Parrott then ripped a one-base hit to load the bases. After an out
was recorded, Hoy came to bat and lined a base-hit, and an error was also
committed, knocking home two runners. Bug Holliday came up to bat and would
hit into a fielders choice scoring the final run of the inning. This was the
kind of game that many fans love as the lead changed hands 5 times.

The victory was credited to Parrott(12-21) who went the distance, allowing 9
runs. Gus Weyhing(16-14) suffered the loss. He got hammered, allowing 13
hits and 6 walks in 8 innings.

Sam Thompson blasted 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI for Philadelphia but his effort
was wasted in the loss.
