Catcher Tommy Clarke had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the Cincinnati Reds defeated
the slumping Brooklyn Superbas by a score of 6 to 4 at Palace of the
Fans.

Jack Compton(1-1) was solid if not spectacular. He went 6 and 2/3 innings
allowing 6 hits and 6 walks. Brooklyn went down quietly in the 9th.

Harry Gaspar gained credit for his 4th save. The loss was charged to Elmer
Steele(10-5). He got hit hard, allowing 10 hits and 3 walks in 6 innings.

'I just wanted to give my team a chance to win.' said Compton, 'I got burned
on a couple of pitches. But we won the game, and that's all that matters.'
