Eddie Lopat tossed a complete game shutout as the Pittsburgh Pirates defeated
the Cleveland Indians by a score of 6 to 0 at Forbes Field.

Mickey Vernon had a good evening at the plate. He smacked a three-run homer
in the 1st inning, stroked a one-base hit in the 3rd inning and stroked a
single which brought home a run in the 5th inning. Pittsburgh banged out 9
hits on the night.

Lopat(8-12) was credited with the shutout, his first of the year. Bob
Lemon(12-17) absorbed the loss. Pittsburgh now has a record of 50-90. Jim
Murphy was unhappy with his club's recent performance. 'We can't keep losing
games' he said. 'It gets to be embarrassing after a while.'
