In a close game it was the streaking Brooklyn Dodgers 8, the Washington
Nationals 6 in 11 innings at Griffith Stadium.

Both teams were tied at 6 runs apiece after nine innings.  Brooklyn came out
the victor in the 11th inning.  Roy McMillan led off the inning for Brooklyn
when he banged out a single.  Jack Dittmer stepped up to the plate and he
doubled plating a run.  Murry Dickson then let one get away for a wild pitch.
Bill Bruton stepped in and he hit a deep fly scoring the final run of the
inning.  Brooklyn finished with 11 hits in the victory.  

The victory went to Clem Labine(9-10) who went 5 and 2/3 innings, allowing no
runs. Labine got relief help from Jim Hughes who gained credit for his 7th
save.  Dickson(8-8) absorbed the loss in relief.  

This win by Brooklyn continues their recent hot streak.  In their last ten
games, they have a record of 10-0.  For the season, they are 72-71.  With the
loss Washington now has a record of 66-77.
