Jim Hearn took a no-hitter into the 7th inning and second baseman Nellie Fox
had 4 hits and 2 RBI as the Cincinnati Reds bested the Philadelphia-AL
Athletics 12 to 3 at Crosley Field.

Fox enjoyed a big evening at the plate. He delivered a one-base hit in the 1st
inning, lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' in the 2nd inning, stroked a base-hit
in the 7th inning and slapped a base-hit in the 8th inning. Cincinnati
totaled 16 hits on the night.

The winning pitcher was Hearn(11-11) who allowed 3 runs for the game. The
right-handed Hearn lost his no-hit bid when Hank Thompson singled with nobody
out in the 7th inning. The loss was charged to Bob Lemon(16-15). He was
touched for 12 hits and 5 walks in 6 innings.
